Midwest Fine Arts pops for Warhol
MWFA Special Projects - Publish Date: February-13-2010

PITTSBURGH, PA: MidWest Fine Art Service and Transportation, Co. agent for Mayflower Transit recently moved a major traveling exhibition organized by the Andy Warhol Museum, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh to JFK International for air forwarding to Seoul, Korea. In fact, according to Yoo Hee-Young, director of the Seoul Museum of Art, "This is probably the biggest Andy Warhol retrospective exhibition ever in Asia".

The exhibition offers highlights from Warhol's entire career and includes over 400 works from the museum's impressive permanent collection. Divided into sections the show features many portraits including (Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Mao, the Beetles, Muhammad Ali, Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis, to name a few), commercial icons like "Brillo Boxes", "Campbell Soup Cans", as well as other themes involving death, destruction, and Warhol's cinematography.

MidWest FAST worked closely with their colleagues at Racine Berkow Associates and the Andy Warhol Museum in coordinating the time sensitive transport to meet a chartered Asiana Airlines cargo jet from JFK International Airport directly to Seoul, Korea. The timing of the project occurred during the busiest holiday travel day and a Pittsburgh Steelers home game.

The size and number of crates and the immense scope of the show required the need of three 53 foot climate controlled tractor trailers. Three teams of drivers and handlers from Mid West's staff included Ken Bruns and Steve Popovich, Mark and Jonathon Pagel, Alex Rivera, and Kirk Lanning. Overseeing and traveling as couriers with the exhibition were Warhol staff members Sarah Morgan Stewart and Anthony Robert Valvano.

MidWest has the highly specialized equipment and trained staff required to handle extraordinary museum projects like this one and were delighted to be involved with this spectacular show.
